I spent such a short amount of time in Salzburg that I really wonder if I did even make it to 36 hours in Salzburg nonetheless while I was time poor, Salzburg felt gluten free rich (if such a comparison could even exist).
I had heard about DM Drogerie in Germany carrying gluten free items, however, while in Cologne I did not come across a DM Drogerie but I did come across one in Salzburg’s old town (Austria). I was really surprised the range of things that it carried. I bought a few things but not as many as I would have liked as I was hand luggage restricted.
Room Service @ The Sheraton
Unfortunately I was quite unwell when we went to Salzburg so rather than wandering around too much we decided to head back to the hotel and eat in our room. I chose the he salmon and rice. All confirmed to be gluten free and eaten without ill effects.Yay!!!
Breakfast @ The Sheraton
Oh my goodness, this was amazing! I had freshly baked baked bread for breakfast!! Yes I am serious. I don’t think i have ever had freshly baked gluten free bread for breakfast unless I made it myself.
The gluten free bread comes pre-prepared in a sealed pouch. So all the hotel has to do is bake the bread and there are no cross contamination issues! Fantastic!!!
Salzburg Airport is absolutely tiny. It only carries the basics even for gluten munchers so come prepared.
Of course I took a long a German language coeliac card.
